Your Plan-B

Malta’s Permanent Residency Programme allows Non EU nationals to obtain a permanent residency in Malta without any minimum stay requirements. The application can also include the main applicants family, parents and parents in law,

You have the option to either apply for permanent residency all at once, as long as all requirements are met, or break it down into stages

1. Purchase or rent a property
North of Malta rent for a minimum value of €12,000 per annum OR purchase a property for not less than €350,000.
Gozo or in the South of Malta, rent for a minimum value of € 10 000 per annum or purchase a property for not less than €300,000.

2. When you are ready to relocate you start your application for permanent residency. 
Your property that you have perviously bought will now be part of your application. Once you get your permanent residency, the property used for the application, must be kept for at least 5 years from the date of issuing of certificate;

3. A non-refundable government contribution 
This now has to be paid and is dependent on whether the main applicant chose to rent or purchase a property in Malta.
Should the applicant choose to purchase a property, the contribution is set at  € 68 000

If the applicant has rented a property, the contribution is set at €98,000.

4. A donation 
A donation of €2,000 is to be made to a local registered NGO

Other requirements:
The main applicant must have a minimum capital of not less than €500,000, of which €150,000 should be financial assets ( this is required at the start of your application but these monies could be used when buying property etc)

The main applicant and the dependants must be covered by adequate health insurance.
